Seaside Shelters: The beginning.....

I'm not sure what got me interested in seaside shelters. It might have been growing up in Torbay and going to university in Portsmouth; Paignton and Southsea both having iconic shelters that always appear when one searches for them online. It might be the standalone piece of architectural history that a shelter holds, with memories of the sea, holidays, ice creams, fairs..... It could also be the slightly sad, lonely and run down look the shelters have come winter; another of my architectural 'obsessions'. Either way, the shelters offer up a mini research project and design opportunity that fits perfectly within the next module within my Architectural Conservation module.
